Towards a circular economy
More and more people are becoming more aware of reducing their “footprint”, the extent to which their behavior burdens the ecology. In this way you can also look at all kinds of items that you use for yourself or give as gifts. Reason enough for us to create an assortment group in which we collect all kinds of assortment, where the maker has explicitly taken into account the reduction of the ecological food print. This does not mean that all materials or parts for these products have been reused and that all sub-processes are fully sustainable processes. For example, the Tweek jewelery (before gilding) is made from residual material. And the Loqi bags and laptop covers are made of 100% recycled and recyclable polyester.
More and more sustainable design
Many Dutch designers are actively involved in sustainability.
Upcycling
For many designers, it is a challenge to upcycle materials and products. The basic principle of upcycling is that the quality of the products does not decrease, but improves even further. The products are reused in a different way that gives them more value. An old, unusable product can be transformed into something new. If this new product is useful and has more value than before, we speak of upcycling. Think of old wine bottles that get a new life as a vase from Toepas.
