Peperbus necklace Zwolle, Riverstones - 14 kt gold plated
Peperbus (Zwols: Pèperbusse) is the nickname of the Onze-Lieve-Vrouwetoren, which the tower owes to its shape that resembles a pepper-pot. It is a late Gothic tower that belongs to the Basilica of Our Lady of the Assumption. In the gold-plated pendant of this 14 carat gold-plated brass necklace, you can see the characteristic shapes of the Peperbus.
The Peperbus of Zwolle
The Peperbus was built between 1463 and 1482. However, it was completely blunt at the time. Because the tower of the Grote or Sint-Michaëlskerk burned down in 1669, people wanted a new representative tower in Zwolle. In 1727, an onion-shaped roof was placed on the tower. In 1815, the upper part of the tower was destroyed by fire. The tower was restored and fitted with the current domed roof in neoclassical style. With its height of 75 meters, the striking tower can be seen from afar. The Peperbus can be climbed to the first entrance, which is located at a height of 51 meters. This is equivalent to 236 steps. From the tower you have a beautiful view of the old city gate, the charming mansions and the unique star-shaped city canal that surrounds the city center. With 51 bells, the carillon of the Peperbus is one of the largest carillons in the Netherlands.
The Riverstones brand
After a trip to Bali, Ronja Brall decided to change course and focus entirely on establishing Riverstones. Her goal was for Riverstones to become the first sustainable and affordable jewellery brand that’s inspiring to women. She does so by creating sustainable and fair jewellery, using Max-Havelaar-certified fair-trade silver and gold and ecological packaging. All jewellery is made by hand in Bali. It couldn’t be more beautiful.
