Everything about
Henk Stallinga
Industrial designer
The work of visual artist and industrial designer Henk Stallinga (1962) consists of a large number of products and projects. From lighting to installations and home accessories to furniture. Characteristic for his designs is the focus on material, shape and technique. By playing with associations that people have with certain items, Stallinga provides a unique perspective on industrial objects. Through a balanced combination of the aforementioned elements and a correct balance between functionality and imagination he creates new and innovative products. When using his designs, products also gain a new meaning!
Products with a meaning
Immediately after graduating from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in 1993, Henk founded Studio Stallinga. Together with his team he worked on various design projects with a large number of (inter)national clients. Stallinga works both autonomously and for industries. For his industrial designs he uses a multitude of techniques and materials to ensure mass production. In his autonomous work, Henk uses different and distinguished production techniques. One of his design in the area of home accessories is the
Goods Slab. By using flexible, moldable materials the

Musuems worldwide
The work of Studio Stallinga is recognized worldwide. Not only has his work been included in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam and the Cooper Hewitt Museum in New York, his installations regularly cause quite a stir as well. His "Vierkante meter gezelligheid' (a chandelier installation with blister lighting) at the Mondrian exhibition of MOMA in New York was literally the turning point of his career. In 2013 he created an installation in the Music Hall on the IJ in Amsterdam. 'Waiting in The Hallway' is a sitting sculpture that seems dangerously balanced. But the balance of the 16 Wall Seats has obviously been calculated accurately, making it especially visually exciting!
