The barrel tea concept

The Barrel-tea brand is a young brand (2023) where the brand also stands for the product concept: A hot drink that you brew just like tea but from shreds of used whisky, bourbon, cognac, and rum barrels. These oak barrels are used for years to age spirits, giving the drink its own taste. But also the oak barrel! Barrel tea selects the best barrels to make tea. The barrels are shredded by Barrel-tea, after which the chips are packed airtight in bags. The taste comes back to life in this unique tea when you let it steep for 5 minutes at a water temperature of 100℃. This gives a unique smell and taste experience.

An initiative of wood specialist

Barrel-tea is an initiative of Henri Koekkoek, who has gained a wealth of wood experience through education and work. He trained as a carpenter, obtained a bachelor's degree in Wood Technology (Hogent, Belgium), and learned everything about the essential aspects of the world of wood: furniture technology, machining technology, interior and exterior joinery, finishing technology, wood construction technology, automation in this sector and ecological aspects. He gained his work experience at ten companies specializing in wood in various Netherlands, Suriname, and New Zealand.
