Established in 1921 as a "workshop for the processing of copper and nickel sheet metal", Alessi has always excelled in the quality of its products. Over nearly a century, the company has gradually developed into one of the leading "factories of Italian design", and has been able to apply its expertise and excellence in design management to many different types of products.

Handmade products

Although Alessi is open to change and international developments, due to its strong link with the traditions and cultural background of its area its name remains forever associated with handmade objects, even if produced by machines. Its Alessi's mission to search for a means of mass production that is able to translate the advanced cultural, aesthetic, design and functional quality of handmade products. Designer products are the result of the ongoing alignment of art and industry, of the "immense creative potential" and the needs of the market. Various materials

Ever since the company was founded in 1921, the majority of Alessi products are manufactured using 'cold metal working ', a tradition which is kept alive by the skilled workers of the Crusinallo factory in Omegna. Over time, Alessi began to use various other materials, such as porcelain, glass, wood and plastic, and unique production methods were developed for each material. Even when production takes place outside the Crusinallo plant, the guidelines of Alessi apply in order to guarantee high quality standards and combine industrial technological complexity with a traditional attention to detail.

The objects made from different materials are produced in various factories around the world. Despite this, they remain original Alessi items, as they are created using the same design philosophy and produced with the same attention to quality. This makes the products by Alessi so distinctive.
