Therefore Royal Delft, the most famous factory of Delft blue, has also a series of porcelain Delft Blue Christmas decorations: a Delft blue Christmas ball (Ø 7 cm), a Christmas mini-ball (Ø 5 cm), a Christmas cone, a Christmas bell, and a Christmas drop. Contemporary and typically Dutch. Not only gorgeous in a real Christmas fir but also great in an artificial Christmas tree or a wooden Christmas tree. Great for home, super as a gift.

Delft blue, typically Dutch?

The origin of the world-famous Delft earthenware dates back to early 1600. In the 17^th century, the VOC (Vereenigde Oostindische Compagnie) ships brought not only spices back from China,  but also blue on white decorated porcelain. This porcelain quickly became very popular with the wealthy of that time such as the European royal houses. When the import came to a standstill by a civil war in China, the Dutch pottery manufacturers grabbed their chance and started the imitation of this blue and white decorated porcelain. This was the start of the Dutch production of Delft blue, now known worldwide as a purely Dutch product.

About Royal Delft

The home of Royal Delft is Delft blue factory ‘De Porceleyne Fles’. This factory that is located in Delft, dates back to 1653 and is the only remaining and still working 17th century Delft pottery factory, where Delft blue pottery is still hand-painted, according to centuries-old traditions.
