Cloth Vase White

The basis for this design is a perfectly ironed tablecloth that hangs in folds over the table. The challenge: to give the tactility and mobility of fabric to ceramic, a hard and static material. By folding the vase by hand after casting, shapes are created that are never obtainable in mass production and from a mold alone. In this way, each vase is unique and the ceramics acquire the mobility of a wavy tablecloth. This Cloth Vase is handmade, there may be small color differences from vase to vase and irregularities such as pinholes. The mottled version of this vase is the same sheet, but after a successful dinner with loved ones.

Simone Post

Dutch textile and product designer based in Rotterdam. Simone (1990, Utrecht) graduated cum laude from the Design Academy Eindhoven in 2015 and has won several international awards, including 'Domotex Best Studio Artist Design', 'Dutch Design Award Best Product & Best Young Designer'. Her design studio is based on the principles of experimental research, sustainability and cultural heritage.

Daring experiments

Simone's work is characterized by daring material and pattern experiments using traditional techniques and technologies. The end product is not necessarily the most interesting for Simone, because she has a preference for the research process itself, the potential of materials and techniques. This results in unexpected results that enrich the craftsmen and manufacturers.

Work by Simone Post has been exhibited worldwide and can be found in the Vitra Design Museum, the Centraal Museum Utrecht and Cooper Hewitt New York, among others. She has successfully collaborated with companies such as Adidas, Kvadrat/Maharam, Textielmuseum, Vlisco, Hema, Return to Sender, Eco-oh! and Finnish.

The Cloth vase is both a Dutch design and Dutch made product. Pottery workshop Cor Unum in 's-Hertogenbosch produces the Cloth vase. Cor Unum (since 1953) develops and produces new ceramic designs, based on innovation, collaboration and sustainability in cooperation with Dutch design talent. The people within the company share one common ideal: everyone deserves a place, everyone has a talent and anyone can contribute in making the world somewhat nicer. The company offers employment to people with a some distance to the labour market. Mid ' 90 Cor Unum  has consciously opted for the niche of exclusive design.
