Aerial photographer Herman IJsseling regularly flies from Texel over the Wadden. He captures the area from a bird's eye view. He has included the most beautiful recordings of the past five years in this Wadden book. The color photos (over one or two pages) are arranged from west to east, i.e. from Razende Bol off Texel to Rottumeroog near the German island of Borkum. All photos have a short caption and the exact location is indicated on a small map. They are beautiful, sometimes almost abstract photos of a unique part of the Netherlands. The play of clouds, rainbows, sunbeams, but also the colorful shapes of nature reserves and stretches of sea that have almost dried up. With the occasional glimpse of habitation or a lighthouse, such as the Brandaris. The image is always different because, as the photographer himself says, the Wadden Sea is always in motion. The large, square book gives a beautiful picture of the Wadden Islands as the average visitor rarely sees them. A wonderful viewing book, both for those who know the islands well and for those who want to get acquainted with this special archipelago.

Herman IJsseling

Founder of Flying Focus, specialized in maritime aerial photography for over 35 years, resulting in nearly 10,000 ships being photographed. The company is known for its storm flights over the North Sea with winds up to Beaufort 10! Flying Focus has three of its own aircraft that are specially equipped for flights over water and are stationed at Texel airport. Around 250 photo flights take place every year, the vast majority for the maritime sector. Flights are also regularly carried out for projects at a greater distance, from the Baltic Sea to the Atlantic Ocean. Herman carries out many photo flights as a photographer and also processes most of the photos himself in the digital studio. Flying Focus also publishes photo books and calendars in-house.
